A gold hoard has been discovered!
Of course, we all dream of hitting 'the big one', the
find that makes us financially independent but also something that is of
some historical importance. Well, one
fellow prospector has done just that. Terry Herbert, an Englishman, was
using his metal detector on his friends farm when, out of nowhere, he
got a target. Upon further investigation he discovered that he found
more than he could ever have imagined. What
he found was a rare hoard of gold and silver artifacts dated from the
7th century! It was reported that this find might just change how
British history is recorded.

A flower of a different...color? Have
you ever noticed that gold isn't always...well...gold? Some deposits
have that traditional rich, shiny golden hue while others can appear brassy, orange, pale yellow, or even brownish and other colors. Why is this, after all gold is just gold, right?
Wrong.
Raw
gold is rarely, if ever, pure. There is always something mixed in
depending on the mineralization of the immediate area of the lode
deposit. Any condition where more than one metal is "mixed" together is
called an alloy. And when you're talking specifically about gold, that
"anything" that is mixed in is called an impurity.
Sometimes
its copper, in which case your gold would take on a darker, reddish or
brassy-orange color. Or maybe its silver which would create from a pale
yellow to an almost white color.
In
fact, "white gold" is simply regular gold mixed with a high
concentration of silver, nickle or some other 'silvery' metal. That's
why it's cheaper than regular gold jewelry. Gold can also change to
other colors like a chameleon with the addition of other alloy metals. This
is where the measurement of the 'Karat' comes in. Few people really
know the difference between 24Kt or 10Kt, except for the price. Well,
for the next time you're at the jewelers counter, 24 karat gold is
nearly pure gold with nominal impurities, whereas 10 karat gold has so
little gold in it that it is little more than cheap, cosmetic jewelry.
With 10 karat they're really only calling it 'gold' to describe the
color - not the content.
So unless you're getting your gold direct from a smelter (or Fort Knox), chances are you won't be handling pure, 24Kt gold. | Why gold? Why now?
Why learn how to prospect for gold? The answer is fairly simple,
really. With today's economy being in the tank it would be nice to find
a vacation that actually fits the budget, right?
Well, with Oregon Gold Adventures you get even more than that! Learn from us how to pick the right spot and you could actually pay for your whole trip...maybe even more!
Now, we're not going to tell you that you'll need a full mule team to
take your gold home (that really would be something though, wouldn't
it?), but with our DELUXE package we GUARANTEE that you will go home with shiny, yellow GOLD. Announcing the new Monthly Specials!

Kulongoski wants to follow
suit Well, you knew it had to
happen sometime,
right?? The liberals are pushing and
Oregon Governor Ted
Kulongoski is considering legislation to remove from mineral withdrawl
up to one million acres of southern Oregon mining grounds. The aim is
to deter California miners from moving to Oregon to operate their
dredges next season, following California's moratorium on dredging in
the entire state in August. This means that no new claims will
be allowed on much of Oregon's "gold
country".

Micron GoldDon't miss out on a 'golden'
opportunity 09/18/09
How many times have you had several teeny,
tiny specks of gold left after you finished a panful of material and
just tossed them out with the rest of the 'junk'? After all, those
microscopic pieces aren't really worth the trouble,
right?
You might just change your mind after
reading the following article.
We here at OGA are constantly doing
research across the globe, via the internet, in an attempt to bring you
all things gold.
This is yet another piece of information
that will help you get the most out of your prospecting
trips.
Micron gold is everywhere. It is also one
of the hardest types of gold to process to really be worth the effort
to be profitable. However, it really isn't all that difficult to
purchase a mini-lab
(or get plans and build your own)
in order to process micron
gold.
Actually, micron gold can pay as much as,
or more than, all those "big" chunks we all are looking
for...combined.
Ok, enough babbling. Click on the link

something
valuable!

Extra!
Extra! Read all
about
it!
Do we have your
attention yet?? Good. For those of you in the know, and for those
perhaps not, we here at OGA have discovered another
important story relating to our rights as
miners.
While perusing the web we found something
that really made our blood boil. Our friends at the Waldo Mining
District have been doing an incredible job
keeping close tabs on all the mining legals in southern Oregon and
abroad. They are also a party in a petition against the following:
In northern California there is a native American
tribe who are allegedly doing there level best to destroy any
and all of our mining rights. They are known as the Karuk tribe and
their main platform against us is the fallacy that we, in our mining
operations, are somehow destroying the salmon
fishery.
Now, of course we all know this isn't true
no matter how you slice it. After all, there hasn't been a single study
that has proven any of these ridiculous allegations that we have harmed
even one, single fish, right?
Well, apparently the
Karuks allegedly are not only harming fish at an
alarming rate but the government continues to issue tribal fishing
permits allowing them to do so unabated with their dip
nets.
You might be thinking that this has to be a
tightly controlled, well-managed proposal and that the fish kills are
well documented by the experts at fish and game, right? After all, the
feds sure are "Johnny-on-the-spot" at the boat ramps when we bring in
our limit(s), aren't
they?
Not only is this not even close to true, neither the
Karuks NOR the federal government allegedly keeps
any kind
of documents regarding the fish kill. That's right, apparently nobody is tracking how many, or even what kinds of salmon are
being greedily taken by the Karuks. The petition goes on to state that
the Karuks, allegedly,
are even illegally taking federally protected
species!
So while "Joe average" can get fined or
even spend some time in the "graybar hotel" for intentionally (or
unintentionally) taking a protected fish, this tribe allegedly and
continually
violates federal law by taking them completely
unrestricted! And the worst part is that the feds apparently don't seem
to have any objection to this. What the heck is going on
here???
So the next time someone tries to tell you
that our alleged gravel disruption has the potential to alter fish
habitation and spawning, all of which is simply a crock, you can (after
reading the article) inform them of exactly where the actual damage is
coming from.
Think of it this way. Even if our opponents
had it right, even if we did harm fish habitat, and if this is
all true about the Karuks...all of us miners combined couldn't do in the
next decade the damage to the fisheries that the
Karuk tribe does in a single fishing
party!
And there's certainly no way in
heck we'd ever get a free pass from the
federal government to do it! It's
not only happening to us! Gold miners from around the world seem to
also be under political attack.
While we're all focused on
overcoming the unrealistic liberal mindset trying to shut us
down through unrealistic ideology, miners in other countries
have a similar fight on their hands.

we found on one of our Google Alerts. | We're looking for some pickers! Ok, not the kind you're
thinking of...at least, not this
time.

Bad Miners are Bad
News
09/16/09
It is quite unfortunate when one of our own oversteps the
line and does something that gives our adversaries even more ammunition
against
us. We just found a story that was
published in the Oregonian that, if true, is really something
else. We here at OGA, and all the
miners with whom we associate, work very hard to follow the rules and
keep our hobby/occupation clean so as not to attract negative attention
to ourselves and our activities. Unfortunately, there are those who
simply
don't. Click on the link below to read
the whole story. Pay particular attention to some of the responses this
article illicited from the liberal left. It certainly doesn't take much
to stir them into a 'hanging
party'. Please people, we all need to keep our noses clean and take
care of our own. We can do a thousand good things only to be undone by
the (alleged) acts of
another.
California Dredge
Ban The latest news on who was behind
it.
"Small-scale miners still
drawn to California to chase dreams of striking
it
rich will have to find their gold nuggets the old-fashioned way for a
while, with shovels and pans. Gov. Arnold
Schwarzenegger signed a bill Thursday in Sacramento calling an
immediate moratorium throughout the state on
suction dredge mining
until..." Click here for the full

Bad
news one
and all!! All gold dredging halted!
Well, it's a
sad day for all of us today. The libs in California finally convinced
the "all knowing" Governor to do something utterly ridiculous with no
proof to back it up! Your mighty tax dollars at
work. There is now an immediate
BAN on ALL
dredging
of ANY KIND in the
ENTIRE state of
California, pending
further studies on the salmon
population.
Don't
think this only affects the poor California miners. Now that the
radical left has gotten a foothold and set a precedent there's no end
to who and where they will attack
next! NOTICE
