Q. How much and what kind of gold will I find?

A. Because of the nature of prospecting, it is virtually impossible to tell you exactly what you will find. Generally speaking you can count on a lot of fine gold with a fair possibility of finding a picker or two. It is even possible, although a bit less likely, to find larger nuggets or even more! That's the exciting part of prospecting!

Q. Do I get to keep all the gold I find on an

outing?

A. Absolutely! OGA will teach you how and where to find your gold. You keep everything you find. Keep in mind you can also find other valuable minerals and gems during an OGA outing. You can find silver, gold, platinum, agates, garnets, diamonds, quartz and many other gemstones.

Q. Aren't public mining areas already worked out until there's no gold left?

A. Nothing could be further from the truth. Every year, during the flood season, gold is washed down from the hills and replenishes all gold sites. There is still a lot of gold left to go around. After all, would we really offer a guarantee* if we weren't pretty sure there was some left?? Estimates are that of all of the gold that has ever been discovered and unearthed...95% of the available gold is still left!!

Q. What is the difference between Oregon Gold Adventures and other outing companies?

A. Most other gold outing companies offer overnight, multi-day trips, and most are also very expensive on the order of hundreds, and even thousands of dollars per person. Also, few of them even offer day trips. Oregon Gold Adventures targets experienced and inexperienced miners and families who want to add gold prospecting to their vacation, rather than making it their whole vacation. We focus on starting out teaching you the basics and then everything else you need to know to be able to find gold wherever you go. OGA is also much more affordable for our outings. ALL of OGA's outings are under $100. OGA's rates range from $50 to $95 per person. A mere fraction of what other mining outfits charge.

Q. Can I stay longer than the 3 or 6 hour outing times?

A. Yes. Oregon Gold Adventures is a new company. Currently, most OGA outings will take place on our private mining claim(s). In certain circumstances we may have an outing at public recreational mining areas to find your gold. If the outing is at a public location you can stay as long as you want after the outing is over. Many of these locations will have camping facilities as well. If you're finding good gold it's a good idea to stay and gather as much as you can.
When outings take place on OGAC mining claims you can arrange to stay after the outing for an additional fee.

Q. Can I bring my own mining tools/equipment?

A. Yes. For DELUXE outings only OGA will provide you with a basic 'miners kit' including a gold pan, hand shovel, a snuffer bottle, a suction tweezer and a vial to take your gold home in. If you would like to bring your own mining tools i.e. pans, sluices, rockers or high-bankers you may. OGA can provide you with some information on government departments. However, it is YOUR sole responsibility to find out if there are any restrictions/regulations/permits required on certain equipment at certain times of the year in certain areas.

Q. Can I just rent time on your claim(s) without a guide?

A. Yes. If you are an experience (or not) miner and/or would just like to rent time on our claim(s), without a guide, just click HERE to contact us. Let us know when, which claim(s) and for how long you would like to stay. There are some very nice tent spots on the claims, some right on the water! As long as your trip doesn't interfere with our scheduled outing(s) we'll give you a quote for your stay. You might just find that it's much more affordable than you may think. Please note that dredging is allowed on OGAC claim(s) for a refundable deposit, an additional fee and/or a percentage of your finds.

NOTE: Whether on a scheduled outing or a "self-guided" trip, you MUST fill your holes and keep the area clean. Failure to do so may result in the forfeiture of deposit(s) and/or revocation of "self-guided" trips altogether. Our claims are on BLM or USFS lands and, for the most part, are NOT equipped with bathrooms. You MUST have an alternate means of securing your waste! Digging a hole is NOT an alternate means! You MUST have a "port-a-potty", bag-and-bucket system or some other portable waste system that you can take with you when you leave. This rule is strictly enforced! Failure to follow this rule BY ANYONE IN YOUR PARTY will result in forfeiture of any deposit(s) and/or blackballing from ANY future outings or stays. Also, no refund will be given for early departure.
