We here at OGA are thrilled to announce that we will be offering new types of outings very soon! These new outings will take place on proven gold producing mining claims, may be 1-3 days in duration and may include, in addition to our 'panning 101' classes, training in the operation of the following equipment:

By working on multi-day outings you may have the opportunity to get a share of a much bigger volume of gold. OGA SERVICES TO YOU...

What can OGA do for you? Plenty. We're going to teach you the most important gold mining techniques for locating and extracting real Oregon gold. After an outing with us you will be able to confidently prospect and find gold for yourself, wherever you go. Bring your friends and family and learn a relatively easy way to bring home a hobby that pays YOU!

We miners all start in the same place, needing information and training. But we've done all of the tedious hours of research and had a lot of trial-and-error failures for you, so we're able to skip you ahead and take you to proven public mining areas in Oregon.

The chances of you finding REAL Oregon gold at any of our outings is extremely high. As we continue to build our business we will be acquiring even more of our own claims which will improve your chances even more!

Below is a partial list of topics we will cover at every outing.

Techniques

You will learn the basic techniques of the gold pan. We will give detailed instructions on how to properly use your pan to keep all the gold you've found. This is the first, and probably most important step to gold mining in Oregon.

Location

You will learn that locating a likely gold deposit is a lot more than just sticking your shovel in the ground and hoping. We'll show you where to look and why.

Reading A Site

You will learn how to read a creek, river or other waterway to maximize your findings. Gold isn't always in the water, we'll teach you what else to look for too.

Advanced Techniques

You will learn about using more advanced techniques to process much more material, thus locating more gold. These techniques may include sluicing and highbanking.

Selling Your Gold

You will learn how to sell your gold and to whom. You will learn the difference between "spec" price gold and specimen pieces and the differences in their value. We'll teach you to get the most for your gold.

Staking A Claim

You will learn the basics on finding and staking your own claim. On your own claim you will have exclusive rights to ALL minerals on the site.

It's not terribly difficult to stake your own claim but there are several processes that must occur in the right order. It may require several hours of research prior to the actual "staking".

You will have an opportunity to ask all the questions you have and get thorough, friendly answers from your knowledgeable guide.

Recreational v. Professional

You will also learn that there is a HUGE difference between recreational mining and doing it for a living. The differences are many regarding the motivation and techniques used.
